Approximately 10–12 km northwest of Taupō, off Mapara Road via Acacia Bay. Situated on the northern shore of Lake Taupō at Whakaipo Bay, accessed via a well-maintained pumice road
Operated by DOC, the site permits only certified self-contained vehicles, for up to 4 nights per month, first-come-first-served. Facilities include basic long-drop toilets, non-potable water and rubbish bins. No bookings required.
