About
Located at the southern end of Lake Pukaki, alongside State Highway 8 near the hydro spillway. The site is part of Mackenzie District’s designated freedom camping zones.
Restricted to certified self-contained vehicles only (with sticker). Overnight stay is limited to one night and it’s first-come, first-served. No drinkable water or power; bring supplies and dispose of waste properly. Enjoy starlit skies, dramatic lake views, and sunrise over Aoraki / Mt Cook.
