Big Little Campers is independent campervan rental for your ultimate Kiwi roadie. For us, travel’s always been about the simple joy of being deeply engaged in adventure and feeling part of a community, even when on the road.

We’re thrilled to have you here! We promise to do our utmost to give you an epic road trip from start to finish, treating you how we’d want to be treated.
A little something about us. Jon, Lizi, and Jason launched Big Little Campers in 2019 with a single goal in mind. To design and build the best rental campervans on the market, and create once-in-a-lifetime #VanLife experiences for visitors to New Zealand. Our philosophy hasn’t changed, but our team and our fleet of campervans just keep on growing.
As passionate, lifelong surfers and independent travellers, we’ve explored the world, and driven the length and breadth of New Zealand. We know what matters on the road: a convertible living space, comfy beds, plush towels, real coffee, and somewhere to keep those sunset beverages cold. And most importantly, reliable vehicles with the latest safety features, supported by a team who has your back, to keep you moving forward.

Our Tiaki Promise
Our commitment to the Tiaki Promise means that we prioritise the care of people, place and culture of Aotearoa. The Tiaki Promise provides a framework to enable us to protect the land, keep it clean, keep it safe and show respect.
As custodians of the land for present and future generations we:

- Utilise environmentally friendly products in our day-to-day operations
- Enable our guest to dispose of waste and recycle responsibly
- Educate our guests as to how to drive safely
- Enable our guests to engage and discoverer with Maori culture whilst maintaining respect and honouring Aotearoa's indigenous people
A few of the BLC whānau (family) you’ll meet before, during and after your trip.
Jon is from Cornwall in the UK. He is a seasoned product and experience design. He saw an opportunity to build a company that focuses on authenticity and exploring New Zealand in a way that makes you feel part of the fabric rather than a guest simply passing through.
Jon is a passionate waterman, he loves all thing surfing, fishing and sailing.
Jason, also a fellow designer has cut his cloth across multiple industries from boutique interior design houses to the famous Wēta Studios in Wellington. Jason now heads the design and manufacture of our campers.
When not in the workshop you’ll find Jason at the gym keeping fit or out on the water enjoying boat life.
Nicolle has been with Big Little Campers since it’s inception. She’s a passionate traveller and her encyclopaedic knowledge of all New Zealand has to offer has made her an absolute favourite of our guests looking to get the most out of their trip.
Nicolle is also a designer (you’ll start to see a theme here!) she loves to craft, and make things at home as well as being a wonderfully talented painter.
Brian is a man of many, many talents. He is a first class mechanic and RV enthusiast. He’s ability to fix anything is astounding and his ability to keep calm under pressure is wonderful.
Brian has been a proud motorhome owner for years, when he’s not spending time with the grandkids you’ll find him exploring the backroads of NZ with his wife and dog.
Graeme is living and breathing the vanlife. He’s been travelling around New Zealand for the last 2 years in his converted bus and he’s built up a plethora of knowledge and he’s poised to be provide you with all of the inside tips and tricks to make the most of your once in a lifetime trip.
You’ll find him tinkering on the bus or exploring the back country on foot. He’s a passionate Northerner having spent much of his ife in Northern England.
Cameron is a Christchurch boy, through and through. He is part of our Christchurch team running safety checks and handing vehicles over to customers.
He’s a passionate skier and spends his time outside of his studies up the mountains during winter chasing the fresh powder.
Izzy is an ocean lover, dedicated voluntary lifeguard and emergency response team member. As part of our Christchurch team, Izzy is responsible for vehicle preparation and handover.
Izzy also loves to climb and would love to share her favourite back country spots for climbing, hiking and mountain biking.
Our Locations
We have two pick up/drop off locations – letting our customers make the most of their vacation time, by taking one-way trips between Auckland and Christchurch.
